P30M expired na karne, frozen goods nakumpiska sa Caloocan warehouse

MANILA, Philippines – Nasabat ng mga awtoridad ang aabot sa P30 milyon halaga ng expired meat at iba pang frozen products sa warehouse sa Caloocan City.

Mismong mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Coast Guard, at National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) ang sira nang mga food products sa warehouse inspection na isinagawa nitong Agosto 1.

Nagsagawa ang DA at NMIS ng initial evaluation ng mga produktong karne at napatunayan na hindi na pwedeng kainin ng tao.

Samantala, naghahanda na ng tamang pamamaraan para sa profiling, case build-up, at pagpapanagot sa mga sangkot sa mga expired na karne.

“Protecting our consumers remains a priority of the bureau. We can ensure to put a stoppage to these nefarious activities by apprehending individuals and groups through well-planned and coordinated inter-agency operations,” sinabi ni BOC Intelligence and Investigation Service Director Verne Enciso.

“Along with this, we must also enhance our information-sharing capabilities with key agencies to detect and deter not only the entry of illegally imported agriculture.” RNT/JGC
