MANILA, Philippines- Inanunsyo ng Philippine Navy (PN) nitong Linggo na matagumpay na naharang at nasabat ng isa sa patrol gunboats nito, ang BRP Jose Loor Sr. (PC-390), ang motor launch na karga ang halos P64 milyong undocumented tobacco products sa operasyon sa katubigan ng lalawigan ng Tawi-Tawi noong March 9.
Inihayag ni Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) acting public affairs office chief, Lt. Chester Ross Cabaltera, na nagsasagawa ang BRP Jose Loor Sr. ng “maritime security patrol, maritime law enforcement operation, external defense operation and sovereign patrol” nang mamataan ang M/L Yasmen sa bisinidad ng Manuk Mangkaw Island, sa bayan ng Simunul =, Tawi-Tawi.
Agad na sumakay sa motor launch ang Navy personnel na nakatuklas sa karga nitong P64 milyong halaga ng undocumented tobacco products.
“Upon inspection, it was revealed that M/L Yasmen was laden with a cache of undocumented tobacco goods. The estimated market value of these confiscated goods stands at an astonishing PHP64 million,” wika ni Cabaltera.
Aniya, dinala ang mga nasamsam na produkto sa Bureau of Customs Sub-Port Bongao Station para sa wastong disposisyon at masusing imbestigasyon.
Samantala, sinabi ni NFWM commander, Rear Admiral Anthony Miraflor, na ipinakikita ng operasyon ang kanilang commitment sa pagparotekta sa katubigan ng bansa.
