MANILA, Philippines- Isang imbestigasyon ang isasagawa ng Kamara kaugnay sa nangyaring malawakang pagbaha sa Metro Manola at karatig-probinsya dulot ng bagyong Carina at ng hanging habagat.
Ayon kay Manila Rep. Rolan Valeriano, chairman ng House Committee on Metro Manila Development, ang House Inquiry ay gagawin sa susunod na linggo kung saan pagpapaliwanagin ng Kamara ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at MMDA kung bakit nagkaroon ng ganitong malawakang pagbaha.
“We should have been prepared for this. Always expect the worst. Our benchmark should be super typhoon Ondoy in 2009, Yolanda in 2013.., It is expected that the Committee members, whose areas were the ones devastated by Typhoon Carina, would actively participate to seek explanation from relevant government agencies on the hearing to be conducted on July 31, Wednesday,” pahayag ni Valeriano.
Giit ni Valeriano, kasama sa titingnan ng Kamara ang flood projects gayundin ang pagbalagkas ng long term plans.
“We need to hear long-term plans of these agencies. What we need is to prevent this calamity from happening over and and over,” giit ng mambabatas.
Ipatatawag din ang Department of Social Welfare and Development para suriin ang isinasagawang relief efforts sa panahon ng kalamidad.
Ang National Capital Region (NCR) ay nasa ilalim na state of calamity dulot ng nangyaring pagbaha. Gail Mendoza
