MANILA, Philippines- Muling pangungunahan ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang pagsisimula ng National Teachers’ Month (NTM) ngayong taon at ang pagdiriwang ng World Teachers’ Day (WTD).
Bahagi ito ng pagkilala sa mahalagang papel ng mga guro sa pagtuturo sa mga kabataang Filipino.
Sa isang abiso na ipinalabas ng DepEd, araw ng Linggo, Setyembre 3, sinabi ng departamento na idaraos ang NTM / WTD kick-off program bukas, araw ng Martes, Setyembre 5 sa Bohol Wisdom School sa Tagbilaran City.
Para ngayong taon, ang tema ng NTM/WTD kick-off celebration ay “Together4Teachers.”
Sa Facebook post ng DepEd, sinasabing layon ng pagdiriwang ngayong taon ang “excellence at greatness” ng Filipino teachers na katuwang nila sa pagtatuyod ng “patriotic at child-friendly nation.”
Ang month-long NTM celebration ay magsisimula, araw ng Martes, Setyembre 5 hanggang Oktubre 5 sa WTD at National Teachers’ Day (NTD).
Ang mga pagdiriwang na ito ay sa ilalim ng Presidential Proclamation No. 242 series of 2011, may titulong “Declaring the Period from September 5 to October 5 of Every Year as National Teachers’ Month; Republic Act No. 10743 titled An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as a National Teachers’ Day and its Implementing Rules And Regulations (IRR) and the designation of the World Teachers’ Day every 5th of October by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO).”
Maliban sa pagbibigay-puri sa mga nasa teaching profession, layunin din ng pagdiriwang ng NTM/WTD/NTD ang pagkilala at pagbibigay ng “emphasis on the crucial role, loyal service and dedicated commitment of teachers in developing globally-minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation.”
Sa mga nakalipas na taon, ang pagdiriwang ay naglalayon din na buhayin ang “image and respect for teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness of the value of teachers in Philippine society.”
Ang NTM/WTD/NTD celebrations, ayon sa DepEd ay nagsisilbing “opportunity in building the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession” at para na rin sa pagsusulong ng “widespread support and assistance for teachers.” Kris Jose
