MANILA, Philippines- Nanawagan ang defense, military at police officials sa mga Pilipino na magkaisa sa gitna ng mga hamon sa paggunita sa Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) nitong Martes.
Binigyang-pugay ni Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. ang Filipino veterans na nakipaglaban para sa kalayaan at kapayapaan ng bansa.
“Sa pagdiriwang ng ika-82 na Araw ng Kagitingan, ang paggunita natin sa katapangan, serbisyo, at sakripisyo ng ating mga beterano, ay akma sa temang, ‘Pagpaparangal sa Kagitingan ng mga Beterano: Saligan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino’,” pahayag ni Teodoro.
“Magsilbi nawang inspirasyon ang kanilang kagitingan sa pagkakaisa ng sambayanan at sa pagtugon sa mga hamon ng panahon, tungo sa mapayapa, matatag, at maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas,” patuloy niya.
Kinilala naman ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. ang mga pagsisikap ng mga bayani “who valiantly fought for the freedom and liberties we enjoy today.”
“As we commemorate this historic day, let us not only reflect on the sacrifices of the past but also reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of democracy, peace, and freedom for which our forefathers fought so valiantly,” wika ng opisyal.
“Let us honor their legacy by standing united in the face of challenges and working tirelessly towards a brighter future for our beloved country,” dagdag niya.
“Their selflessness and commitment to duty serve as an enduring inspiration to all Filipinos, reminding us of the true meaning of valor and patriotism.”
“May the spirit of courage and heroism that defines Araw ng Kagitingan continue to guide and inspire us as we strive to build a nation worthy of the sacrifices of our brave heroes,” patuloy ni Brawner.
Samantala, kinilala ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga sundalong Pilipino at Amerikano na nagtanggol sa bansa at nagtiis sa mga pahirap sa kasagsagan ng Bataan Death March.
“As we commemorate this historic event, let us reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of freedom, democracy, and sovereignty,” pahayag ng PNP.
“Let us honor the memory of our heroes by fostering unity, justice, and peace within our communities,” dagdag nito.
Ginugunita sa Araw ng Kagitingan ang Fall of Bataan, na naganap noong April 9, 1942, upang alalahanin ang libo-libong Pilipinong naglaan ng kanilang buhay para sa kalayaan ng Pilipinas noong World War II. RNT/SA
