MANILA, Philippines- Inihain sa Kamara ang panukalang paggawad ng scholarship sa persons with disabilities.
Iminungkahi ito ni CIBAC party-list Representatives Eddie Villanueva sa ilalim ng kanyang House Bill 10078 o ang Scholarship Grants for PWDs Act of 2024 na nag-aatas sa Department of Education (DepEd) at Commission on Higher Education (CHED), sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), na bigyan ng scholarship grants ang PWDs na edad 25 pababa.
“It is the policy of the State to implement programs and services centered on the needs of PWDs to uplift their quality of life. This bill seeks to provide scholarship grants to PWDs to guide them in their development and make them a contributory factor to economic growth of our society,” paliwanag ni Villanueva.
“It will be of great help if they are able to obtain a college degree with the help of the government. In view of the foregoing, the passage of this bill is earnestly sought,” patuloy niya.
Nakasaad din sa panukala ni Villanueva na kukuhanin ang halagang kinakailangan sa implementasyon ng panukala sa budget ng DepEd at CHED sa ilalim ng national budget law.
Ipinasa ang panukala ni Villanueva sa House panels on Basic Education and Culture and Higher and Technical Education noong March 13, pinakahuling araw ng sesyon bago mag-adjourn ang Kamara.
