MANILA, Philippines- Target maipasa ang panukalang nagsusulong ng paglikha ng Department of Water Resources bago matapos ang 19th Congress.
Base ito sa National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) kasunod ng 7th meeting ng Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) noong Lunes.
Sa press release na ipinalabas nitong Martes, binigyang-diin ni NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan na ang paglikha sa DWR ay makatutulong sa bansa sa pagpigil sa baha at pangangasiwa sa agricultural productivity.
“The recurring devastation caused by heavy typhoons necessitates that we prepare for our country’s future and safety,” ani Balisacan.
“The DWR will be mandated to coordinate with relevant agencies on the construction of water projects, which will improve our irrigation and flood management,” dagdag niya.
Ang pagtatatag sa DWR at sa Water Regulatory Commission ay kabilang sa top priority bills sa ilalim ng LEDAC Common Legislative Agenda (CLA), batay sa NEDA.
Sa nasabing pulong, tinalakay din ng LEDAC ang pag-usad ng iba pang CLA bills, kabilang ang pag-amyenda sa Electric Power Industry Reform Act, ang Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers, at ang National Government Rightsizing Program.
Sa kasalukuyan, may kabuuang 29 sa 64 panukala sa ilalim ng CLA ang naisabatas na. RNT/SA
