MANILA, Philippines- Nangako ang Department of Education (DepEd) na palalakasin ang suporta nito para sa mga learners with disabilities (LWDs) habang itinutulak nito upang ipakilala ang mga kaugnay na groundbreaking na inisyatiba na nakatuon sa teknolohiya at pinalawak na mapagkukunan.
Sinabi ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara, layon ng DepEd na magbigay sa mga (LWDs) ng equal access sa quality education at oportunidad.
Ide-develop din ng departamento ang isang artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool para sa maagang disability detection.
“The Department is fully committed to harnessing technology not only for instruction but also for decision-making, resource planning, and inclusive service delivery,” ang sinabi ni Angara.
Paghuhusayin pa ng DepEd ang Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) nito at ang Alternative Learning System (ALS) upang makakuha ng mas mahusay na capacity-building para sa mga mga tagapagturo, palakasin ang policy monitoring, at pagsama-samahin ang ‘assistive technology at AI’ sa silid-aralan.
“The move aims to create more personalized learning experiences tailored to the unique needs of LWDs,” ang sinabi ni Angara.
Idagdag pa rito, ang itinuturing na ‘major technological leap’ ay ang development ng Project SABAY (Screening using AI-Based Assistance for Young children) ng DepEd-Education Center for AI Research (ECAIR).
Winika pa ng Kalihim na ang kasangkapang ito ay naglalayong gawing modernisado ang maagang identification process para sa potensyal na mga bata na nasa peligro na magkaroon ng kapansanan, pagsuporta sa mahalagang Child Find System na ipinag-uutos ng Republic Act 11650.
“Through the SABAY Project, we affirm our mission that every Filipino child—regardless of ability—deserves timely support and access to quality education,” ang sinabi ni Angara.
