MANILA, Philippines – Kinontra ng Malakanyang ang pahayag ng asawa ng puganteng si Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa na ito ay inuusig.
Ayon sa Malakanyang, hindi magtatago si Dela Rosa kung malinis ang konsensya nito.
Sinabi pa ni Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na ang posibleng pag-aresto kay Bato ay hindi uri ng pang-uusig at ang mga reklamo laban sa kanya ay matagal na.
“We will not comment on the feelings of Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s wife because we respect her situation,” ani Castro.
“However, her claim that Sen. Bato’s arrest is a form of persecution is contrary to the truth,” dagdag pa nito.
Hinimok ni Castro ang publiko na ipanalangin ang pagbibigay ng hustisya sa mga napatay, nagipit at naabuso sa extrajudicial killings (EJKs) sa drug war ng administrasyong Duterte.
“Complaints accusing them of conspiring to commit crimes against humanity over their implementation of the bloody war on drugs have been pending since 2017,” sinabi ni Castro.
“Let us not forget the victims of the heinous killings of poor people who were allegedly framed through planted evidence,” dagdag pa.
Matatandaan na nagpasalamat ang asawa ni Bato na si Nancy Dela Rosa sa social media at sinabing marami pa ang naniniwala at sumusuporta sa kanyang asawa.
Umapela rin ito sa mga dating kaalyado ni Bato na, “I just pray that the powerful few, who were also his friends, would come to realize he is not their enemy nor the enemy of this state. Please do not use him for your personal agenda. He has helped you in countless ways, and he has done you no wrong personally. He needs your help, not your persecution.” RNT/JGC
