MANILA, Philippines- Patuloy na ipinatutupad ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities o “ERPAT” bilang pagkilala sa papel ng isang ama sa pagpapalaki sa kanyang anak.
Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group at Spokesperson Irene Dumlao, ang ERPAT ay isa sa mga serbisyo ng DSWD na nagbibigay importansya at halaga sa papel na ginagampanan ng isang tatay.
“It sees the significant role of fathers in performing multiple roles in all aspects of child rearing and development including the care and behavior management of adolescent children,” ani Asst. Secretary Dumlao.
Upang palakasin pa ang programa, patuloy ang ahensya sa pagsasagawa ng capability building at training ng mga implementers, ERPAT members, at local government units (LGUs), kung saan nitong nakaraang Mayo, nagsagawa ang DSWD Field Office-7 (Western Visayas) ng 1st ERPAT Regional Summit bilang parte na rin ng selebrasyon ng International Day of Families (IDF) 2024.
Ipinaliwanag naman ng tagapagsalita ng ahensya na layunin ng ERPAT na mapalakas ang parenting capabilities ng mga ama ng tahanan upang maayos na magampanan ang kanilang responsibilidad para sa kanilang mga anak.
Ang target beneficiaries ng ERPAT ay biological fathers, (solo fathers, mga tatay na migrants/Overseas Filipinos (OFs), released prisoners, o persons with disabilities), adoptive fathers, newlywed husbands, organized father groups, male caregivers, foster fathers, at guardians.
