MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ng Association of Generals and Flag Officers (AGFO) si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na bumuo ng fact-finding body upang mag-imbestiga sa mga iregularidad sa flood control projects sa bansa.
Ito ang pahayag ng asosasyon nitong Sabado, Agosto 23 kasabay ng pagdinig ng Senado at Kamara sa mga umano’y iregularidad, isang buwan matapos ianunsyo ng Pangulo ang crackdown sa korapsyon sa flood control projects.
“If we may be allowed, we suggest that the President create an investigative fact-finding body composed of public officials and private citizens to conduct an in-depth inquiry to unearth all anomalies related to this matter,” saad sa pahayag ng AGFO.
Matatandaang nagbigay ng direktiba si Marcos na imbestigahan ang flood control projects sa kanyang ikaapat na State of the Nation Address noong Hulyo 28, kasunod ng pananalasa ng mga bagyo at Habagat na nagpabaha sa malaking bahagi ng bansa.
“When funds intended to protect our communities from natural calamities are siphoned off by greed, it does not only steal from public coffers; it directly endangers lives, destroys livelihoods, displaces families, and erodes the people’s trust in the very institutions meant to serve them,” giit ng AGFO.
“The recent directives from the President to investigate and prosecute those responsible for these anomalies are a necessary and commendable step in safeguarding our citizens,” dagdag pa.
Noong Agosto 11, inilunad ng pamahalaan ang “Sumbong sa Pangulo” website kung saan maaaring magsumbong ang publiko sa mga iregularidad sa mga proyekto. RNT/JGC
