MANILA, Philippines – PINASALAMATAN ni Vice President Sara Duterte si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para sa kanyang ‘renewed relationship’ sa kanyang ama na si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, na nakaditine ngayon sa International Criminal Court (ICC) para sa di umano’y crimes against humanity na iniuugnay sa drug war.
Sa kabila ng ‘ironic’ ang bagay na ito, nagpahayag pa rin ng kanyang pasasalamat si VP Sara kay Pangulong Marcos dahil “there was forgiveness between” sa kanya at sa kanyang ama “for all that has happened in our lives.”
“We have a relationship now, a father-daughter relationship. Since we cannot discuss anything legal anymore because it is understood inside that only the lawyers can discuss legal matters with the former president, So, we only discussed family, and this has been one of the longest meetings I have had. I have this every day with him, talking about life,” ang sinabi ni VP Sara.
“At this point, he’s already 80, and he’s already retired. He will go back up again to his job. So, we were given this time to talk as father-daughter,” aniya pa rin sabay sabing “It’s sad that it has to happen inside. But there is a good side. It’s sad that it has to happen inside.”
Hindi naman binanggit ang nasabing eksaktong petsa, sinabi ni VP Sara na babalik na siya ng Pilipinas matapos na ayusin ang ilang mga papeles. Maaari nang bisitahin ng kanyang mga kapatid na sina Paolo at Sebastian Duterte ang kanilang ama sa Netherlands sa lalong madaling panahon para siya ay palitan.
At nang tanungin kung ang kanyang ama ay hindi na dapat pang tumakbo sa pagka-pangulo at nanatili na lamang sa lokal na politika, sinabi ni VP Sara na “I really believe that it’s futile to regret decisions made in the past because I believe that everything happens for a reason.”
“So whatever it is that happened in the past, I think we should just learn from it and then move forward,” aniya pa rin.
At sa plano naman na interim release na posibleng isulong ng kanilang abogado, sinabi ni VP Sara na “I do not know really, truly, honestly, I do not know what the steps are, the lawyers are doing with regard to the interim release.”
“But as I told you before, I fear for his life in the Philippines. But we follow what the client wants, what [former] President Duterte wants,” ang tinuran ni VP Sara.
Samantala, sinabi ni VP Sara na mas lalong tumibay ang kanyang relasyon sa kanyang half-sister na si Veronica, mas kilala bilang Kitty, nang ang kanilang ama ay dalhin sa Netherlands.
“I don’t have the word right now, I only have happy, but it’s the incorrect word to describe it. But, blessed. I’m blessed because I gained a sister with what happened to me after the attack, the presidential haunt attack, the impeachment,” anito pa rin.
“And, I have a relationship now, I have a relationship with Kitty. And I’m happy that… I’m happy that I have a sister because I have someone to scold. Growing up, I didn’t have that, but I have that now,” ang sinabi ni VP Sara. Kris Jose
