PINAG-USAPAN nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Russian President Vladimir Putin ang posibilidad na palakasin ang trade relations sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Russia sa isinagawang bilateral meeting sa Kazan, Russia.
Ang bilateral meeting ay isinagawa sa ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit na iko-chair ng dalawang lider.
“Apparently, we are approaching the present threshold with an immense capital of mutual beneficial cooperation underpinned by good traditions of mutual respect and respect for legitimate interest of each other. Last year, bilateral trade exceeded $.5 billion. Of course, this is far from the limit. And of course, there is a good potential to enhance supplies of agriculture and energy resources,” ayon kay Putin.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na ikinagagalak niya ang “forward-looking exchange on the different structural issues” na nakaaapekto sa kalakalan sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.
“And as you have mentioned, Your Excellency, we – there are many potential areas that I think we should explore and I think that the present level of trade, although it is steady, I think that this is – there is a great deal more that we can do,” aniya pa rin.
Winika pa ng Pangulo na sa isinagawang Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) sa Moscow noong Setyembre 2025, lumitaw na ang energy security at food security ang kanilang mutual concern.
“We note that during the JCTEC meeting held in Moscow, energy and food security emerged as a mutual – one of the mutual priorities of both our countries. And that is why we again, that B2B component at the sidelines of the JCTEC enabled Philippines and Russia to establish networks and to explore joint ventures,” ang sinabi pa ni Pangulong Marcos.
Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni Putin na ito ang unang pagbisita ni Pangulong Marcos sa Russia, na nagkataon o natapat sa chairmanship ng Pilipinas sa ASEAN.
Gugunitain naman ng regional bloc at Russia ang 35 taon ng relasyon, na rerepasuhin sa panahon ng ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit.
Binati naman ni Putin ang mga mamamayang Pilipino sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 anibersaryo ng deklarasyon ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas noong Hunyo 12, na aniya’y isa ring national holiday sa Russia.
Binanggit din ni Putin ang naging pagbisita ng ama ni Pangulong Marcos na si dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. sa Russia noong 1976.
Mamarkahan naman ng Pilipinas at Russia ang 50 taon ng diplomatic relations ngayong buwan.
Matapos ang bilateral meeting, dumalo naman sina Putin at Pangulong Marcos sa gala kasama ang iba pang pinuno ng gobyerno. (Kris Jose)
