MANILA, Philippines- Nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., araw ng Martes, para sa mas malakas na pakikipagtulungan, pagbabago at ‘political will’ para mapanatili ang paglago sa loob ng Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
Ito’y matapos na kilalanin ni Pangulong Marcos na ang patuloy na pagtutulungan at partnerships sa hanay ng BIMP-EAGA member countries ay nakapaghatid ng konkreto at tunay na benepisyo para sa mga tao.
“As we convene today, let us take this opportunity to not only celebrate these milestones, but to also affirm our shared vision for a more integrated, prosperous, and resilient BIMP-EAGA,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos, chairman ng 16th BIMP-EAGA Summit sa Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre sa Malaysia.
“The path ahead calls for even greater synergy, innovation, and political will. I am confident that through our cooperation, we will continue to transform these aspirations that we have held into lasting impact for our peoples,” dagdag na wika nito.
Sa nasabing summit, tinukoy ni Pangulong Marcos ang progresong nagawa ng BIMP-EAGA simula ng pairalin ang Vision 2025, ang ‘development blueprint’ ng nagpartisipang Southeast Asian countries mula 2017 hanggang 2025, kung saan idinetalye ang mga istratehiya para sa “narrow development gaps, sustainably manage natural resources, at promote stronger connectivity.”
Nilikha ang BIMP-EAGA’s Vision 2025 upang tiyakin na ang mga member countries ay nakaayon sa regional global trends, bumuo ng isang ‘resilient, inclusive, sustainable at economically competitive sub-region.’
Nagpahayag naman ng kumpiyansa si Pangulong Marcos na sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan, ang BIMP-EAGA nations ay magpapatuloy na mag- transform mula sa kanilang aspirasyon na lumikha ng isang “lasting impact for our peoples.”
“Together, we have laid down stronger foundations for inclusive, sustainable and innovation-driven growth,” aniya pa rin.
“Our joint initiatives in connectivity, trade and investment facilitation, food and energy security, eco-tourism and green development have advanced significantly, reinforcing our commitment to narrowing the development gap in our sub-region,” ang sinabi pa rin ni Pangulong Marcos.
Itinatag noong 1994, ang BIMP-EAGA ay isang ‘cooperation initiative’ na nag-uudyok sa pag-unlad sa remote at hindi masyadong na-develop na mga lugar sa nagpapartisipang Southeast Asian countries.
