MANILA, Philippines – Umaasa si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na uusad ang pag-uusap ng Pilipinas at Cambodia kaugnay sa kalakalan at tanggulan.
Sinabi ito ni Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang bilateral meeting kasama si Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sa sidelines ng 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits sa Malaysia.
Binigyang-diin ng Chief Executive ang kahalagahan ng pagpapalawak ng pagtutulungan sa defense sector para palakasin ang strategic partnership at tiyakin ang regional peace at katatagan.
“I hope that we can move forward with those discussions in terms of trade, defense, and potential defense cooperation,” ang wika ni Pangulong Marcos.
Sa kabilang dako, nagpasalamat naman si Hun Manet sa mainit at mabuting pakikitungo na ipinakita sa kanya sa panahon ng kanyang official visit sa Pilipinas noong Pebrero 2025.
Hinikayat din nito ang ibang ASEAN member states na tanggapin ang umuusbong na oportunidad sa gitna ng global trade disruptions, at binigyang-diin ang collective potential ng rehiyon para sa katatagan at paglago.
“There are thousands of products where we can find complementarities,” ayon kay Hun Manet.
Nito lamang Pebrero, nilagdaan nina Pangulong Marcos at Hun Manet ang ilang kasunduan na naglalayong paghusayin ang bilateral ties ng dalawang bansa. Kabilang na rito ang:
Kasunduan sa pagitan ng Republic of the Philippines at Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia para sa Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income at Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance;
Memorandum of Understanding sa Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Government Digital Transformation sa pagitan ng Department of Information and Communications Technology ng Republic of the Philippines at Ministry of Post and Telecommunications ng Kingdom of Cambodia;
Memorandum of Understanding sa Agricultural and Agribusiness Cooperation sa pagitan ng Government of the Republic of the Philippines at Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia;
Memorandum of Understanding ukol sa Implementation of Competition Law sa pagitan ng Philippine Competition Commission at Competition Commission of Cambodia;
Memorandum of Understanding sa pagitan ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority ng Republic of the Philippines at Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training ng Kingdom of Cambodia on the cooperation sa larangan ng Technical Vocational Education and Training;
Implementation Program ng Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation sa pagitan ng Ministry of Tourism ng Kingdom of Cambodia at Department of Tourism ng Republic of the Philippines 2025–2028;
Memorandum of Agreement hinggil sa Prevention of Looting and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Properties; at
Memorandum of Intent sa pagitan ng Board of Investments at Council for the Development of Cambodia on Investment Promotions.
