RESULTS define effective police leadership.

In the Negros Island Region, the sustained law enforcement campaign under PBGen. Romano Cardiño has proven that determined leadership, backed by intelligence-driven operations, can make a real difference in the fight against crime.

In just two months as Director of the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region, Cardiño has overseen a series of operations that have dealt significant blows to criminal elements, particularly illegal drug syndicates.

From May 8 to June 8 alone, PRO-NIR conducted 896 law enforcement operations. Police arrested 238 drug personalities, including 26 HVIs or High-Value Individuals, and confiscated more than 10 kilograms of shabu worth nearly ₱68 million.

They also arrested 371 wanted persons, including 76 Most Wanted Persons, recovered and surrendered loose firearms, dismantled illegal gambling operations, and seized smuggled cigarettes valued at almost ₱48 million.

The offensive did not slow down. On July 5, Bacolod City Police Office operatives arrested BADAC-listed HVI Fraze Melocoton Sayon, alias “Waway,” during a buy-bust operation that yielded approximately 2,075 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱14.11 million.

It was another major accomplishment that underscored PRO-NIR’s relentless pursuit of high-value drug personalities.

While the official accomplishment report for the May 8 to July 8 period has yet to be released, the continuing stream of successful operations already sends a strong message: criminals are finding it increasingly difficult to operate in the region.

The challenge now is consistency. Criminals never stop looking for opportunities and law enforcement cannot afford to relax.

If Cardiño sustains this aggressive campaign, PRO-NIR will not only post impressive accomplishments but also build safer communities and strengthen public confidence that the rule of law is prevailing across the Negros Island Region.
