MANILA, Philippines- Sinundan umano ng isang Chinese Coast Guard vessel at dalawang Chinese maritime militia vessels ang BRP Teresa Magbanua sa Escoda (Sabina) Shoal, ayon sa pinakabagong monitoring ng SeaLight security think tank.
Sa ulat, sinabi ni Sealight Director Ray Powell na lumapit ang Chinese vessels sa BRP Teresa Magbanua sa mga nakalipas na araw.
“They seem to be interested in what it (BRP Teresa Magbanua) is doing there and trying to intimidate it. To be in the shoal is really the closest shoal to Palawan, so for China to take the opportunity and try to lay ownership to it is alarming,” wika ni Powell.
Idineploy ng Philippine Coast Guard ang BRP Teresa Magbanua upang bantayan ang umano’y patatayo ng artificial islands sa West Philippine Sea sa pamamagitan ng pagtatambak ng crushed coral.
Ani Powell, magandang istratehiya ang pagtatalaga ng BRP Teresa Magbanua sa Sabina Shoal dahil dumarami na ang bilang ng Chinese vessels sa lugar.
“Whatever it is that they’re up to, it is clear they don’t like the idea that Teresa Magbanua is there watching them,” giit ni Powell. RNT/SA
