MANILA, Philippines – Palalawakin ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos ang cyber defense exercises nito sa Balikatan ngayong taon.
Ipinaliwanag ni Balikatan executive agent Colonel Michael Logico nitong Miyerkules, Abril 17 na ang cyber domain ay may “far-reaching implications” sa physical domain, lalo pa’t ikinokonsiderang ang teknolohiya at weapon systems ng Pilipinas ay umaasa sa cyber domain para mapagana.
“It is important to also recognize that a lot of damage can be done in the cyber domain. [That’s why] our focus is equal importance to both the physical and the non-physical domain,” sinabi ni Logico sa isang media forum.
“For example, the use of our GPS. Not that technology itself belongs to the cyber domain, but the use of GPS has implications of the physical domain. If somebody were to mess with your GPS, there are certain things that will be increasingly difficult or I would say, beyond difficult,” dagdag pa niya.
Nang tanungin naman kung may kaugnayan ba ang cyber defense exercise sa aktibidad ng China sa cyberspace ng bansa, sinabi niya na, “Those are threats that we prepare for.”
“Even if China were not a threat, we will still be doing this to prepare for whatever threat that has bearing on our national security,” dagdag ni Logico.
Sinabi rin ng opisyal na inimbitahang makilahok sa exercises ang Department of National Defense at Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ang 2024 Balikatan ay tatakbo mula Abril 22 hanggang Mayo 10. RNT/JGC
