Pilipinas nakapagtala ng $102.7-B foreign reserves noong Pebrero

MANILA, Philippines – Naitala ang gross international reserves (GIR) sa USD102.7 billion sa pagtatapos ng Pebrero, sinabi ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Sa pahayag na inilabas nitong Huwebes, Pebrero 7, sinabi ng BSP na ipinakita sa preliminary data na ang GIR level sa nasabing buwan ay mas mababa sa USD103.3 billion noong Enero.

Ang reserve assets ng BSP ay binubuo ng foreign investments, gold, foreign exchange, reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at special drawing rights.

“The month-on-month decrease in the GIR level reflected mainly the National Government’s (NG) payments of its foreign currency debt obligations,” sinabi ng BSP.

Dagdag pa ng BSP, ang net international reserves, na tumutukoy sa pagkakaiba sa pagitan ng reserve assets ng central bank at reserve liabilities (short-term foreign debt at credit and loans mula sa IMF), ay bahagyang bumaba sa USD102.66 billion mula sa end-January level na USD102.68 billion.

“The latest GIR level represents a more-than-adequate external liquidity buffer equivalent to 7.7 months’ worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income,” anang BSP.

Ito ay anim na beses ng short-term external debt ng bansa batay sa original maturity at 3.9 times batay sa residual maturity. RNT/JGC
