MANILA, Philippines – Suportado ni Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang panukala ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III na mag-draft ng mga panuntunan sa impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa mensahe nitong Lunes, Marso 3, sinabi ni Escudero na nagpasalamat siya sa minority leader sa kanyang kahandaan sa naturang aksyon.
“I welcome and thank Sen. Pimentel’s offer to help draft the proposed rules. I will instruct the legal team to coordinate with him on this matter,” ani Escudero.
Kamakailan ay nagpahayag ng pagnanais si Pimentel na pangunahan ang pagda-draft ng impeachment rules sa pamamagitan ng special subcommittee na inirekomenda ni Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino.
“Walang problema. Five lang kami abogado sa Senate ngayon so baka wala ng ibang choice. Hintay muna ako sa official assignment. Then discuss ko sa staff ko. Pero just like Sen. Tolentino, I am also a candidate but I am willing to devote time to our duty,” ani Pimentel.
Sa kabila nito, bagamat bukas si Escudero na payagan si Pimentel na mag-draft ng mga panuntunan, iginiit niyang ang mga ito ay proposal lamang at kailangang aprubahan ng plenaryo ng impeachment court sa oras na magbalik ang sesyon ng Kongreso. RNT/JGC
