ILOCOS NORTE, Philippines – Itinuring na may pinakamababang presyo ng kuryente sa Luzon noong Mayo ang Ilocos Norte, batay sa monthly monitoring ng Department of Energy (DOE) sa residential electricity rates.
Ayon sa Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC), umabot sa ₱10.1399 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) ang unbundled residential rate nito, pinakamababa sa lahat ng electric cooperatives at distribution utilities sa Luzon na kasama sa talaan.
Ang aktwal na residential rate naman ay nasa ₱12.2872/kWh.
Ayon kay INEC general manager Cipriano Martinez III, “We achieved this milestone because of our mix contract and efficient trading while securing our base load. Amidst the oil crisis, our rates were reduced while others increased.”
Dagdag pa niya, patuloy nilang sisikaping mapanatili ang mababang singil sa kuryente para sa higit 190,000 consumer-members sa probinsya.
“We will continue to exercise all ways and means to deliver affordable, quality and reliable power supply to all households,” ani Martinez.
Sinabi rin ng INEC na patuloy ang pag-upgrade ng kanilang pasilidad, kabilang ang bagong substation sa Bangui matapos i-energize ang 20-megavolt-amperes substation sa Bacarra noong Hunyo 10 upang solusyunan ang voltage fluctuations at mapalakas ang suplay ng kuryente sa lugar. RNT/MND
