MANILA, Philippines- Inaayos na ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas ang pagbibigay ng humanitarian aid sa Myanmar matapos yanigin ng lindol na may lakas na 7.7 magnitude na naramdaman hanggang sa Thailand nitong Biyernes.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ng Office of Civil Defense na ang mahalagang interagency meeting ay itinakda upang i-coordinate ang tugon ng Pilpinas at ihatid ang suportang kailangan para sa mga apektadong biktima.
“We stand in solidarity with Myanmar during this difficult time. The Philippines is ready to respond to the urgent needs of our neighbors, and we are mobilizing resources to provide assistance as quickly as possible,” ang sinabi ni Defense Secretary at National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chairman Gilberto Teodoro Jr.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Myanmar. The Office of Civil Defense, along with other government agencies, is committed to assisting Myanmar, drawing from our experience in providing immediate aid during the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria,” ayon naman kay OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.
Samantala, naka-standby naman ang Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) ng Department of Health (DoH), kasama ang isang Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, kada isa mula sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), at Apex Mining Corporation/First Gen-Energy Development Corporation (EDC) SRR Teams.
May kabuuang 14 tauhan ang inaasahan na ide-deploy.
Ang April 1 ay ang estimated departure date para sa deployment, na tatagal ng dalawang linggo.
“The death toll in Myanmar climbed to 1,644, the military government,” ayon sa BBC Burmese news service.
Samantala, sa initial assessment ng National Unity Government, oposisyon sa Myanmar na may 2,900 gusali, 30 lansangan at 7 tulay ang napinsala ng lindol.
“Due to significant damage, Naypyitaw and Mandalay international airports are temporarily closed,” ang sinabi ng NUG, kabilang dito ang mga natirang elected civilian government na pinatalsik ng military noong 2021 coup dahilan para mauwi sa civil war.
“The control tower at the airport in Naypyitaw, Myanmar’s purpose-built capital city, collapsed, rendering it inoperable, a person with knowledge of the situation,” ang sinabi naman ng Reuters.
