MANILA, Philippines – Kinumpirma ng Philippine Embassy sa London na may mga Pilipinong nadamay at naging target ng ‘racist riots’ sa Ballymena, Northern Ireland, na nagsimula matapos ang umano’y pang-aabuso ng dalawang Romanian teenagers.
“Unfortunately, in the ensuing unrest, Filipinos in the area have been targeted,” saad sa abiso ng embahada nitong Hunyo 12.
“It is regrettable that innocent individuals have been caught in the crossfire. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant coordination with local authorities to ensure the safety and security of all Filipinos in the area,” saad pa.
Base sa mga ulat, may mga sasakyan at kabahayan ng mga Pinoy ang sinunog sa kaguluhan.
Darating si Ambassador Teodoro Locsin Jr. sa Northern Ireland sa Hunyo 13 upang personal na makipag-ugnayan sa komunidad at tiyaking ligtas ang mga Pilipino.
“We urge all Filipinos in Ballymena and the surrounding areas to be vigilant, follow the guidance of local authorities, and contact the Embassy for any urgent assistance,” anang embahada.
Pinayuhan ang mga Pilipino sa lugar na maging alerto at agad makipag-ugnayan sa embahada kung kinakailangan. RNT
