MANILA, Philippines- Bahagi ng modernization program ng Philippine military ang planong pagbili ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas ng 20 fighter jets.
Sa press briefing sa Malakanyang, nilinaw ng National Security Council (NSC) na ang planong pagbili ng fighter jest ay hindi sinadya o inilaan para sa anumang bansa.
”I’d also wish to address the statement coming from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China wherein they said that any defense cooperation with other nations by the Philippines should not target or harm the interest of a third party nor should it threaten regional peace and security,” ang sinabi ni NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya sa press briefing.
”And we would like to assure the People’s Republic of China that the planned procurement of F-16 fighter jets to the Philippine arsenal does not in any way harm the interest of any third party. It is not intended for any nation. It is merely part of the AFP Modernization Program,” dagdag na dagdag niya.
Nauna rito, sinabi ng Malakanyang na hindi gagamiting panggiyera ang 20 fighter jets na bibilhin ng gobyerno sa Amerika.
Ito naman ang inihayag ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin sa ambush interview sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang, araw ng Huwebes kasunod ng anunsiyo ng United States government na bibili ang Pilipinas ng kanilang mga fighter jet.
Ani Bersamin, gagamiting pandepensa ng gobyerno ang bibilhing mga fighter jet sa Amerika.
“But that is not for any specific target or state. That is for our defensive posture,” ang winika pa nito.
Sinabi pa ni Bersamin wala pa siyang detalye sa ngayon patungkol sa bibilhing mga air asset at ipapaubaya na ng Palasyo sa Department of National Defense (DND) ang paghahayag sa mga detalye nito.
“As far as the details are concerned, I have no awareness of them. The principles of it, the Americans would give us the material for a defensive force, defensive stance,” ayon pa sa opisyal.
Hindi naman masabi pa ng Malakanyang kung saan kukunin ang pondong pambili sa 20 fighter jets. Kris Jose
