MANILA, Philippines- Nagbabala ang Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Martes sa publiko laban sa online scammers na nag-aalok ng tour packages na tila “too good to be true” sa gitna ng summer travel season.
Ito ang paalala ni PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil kasunod ng pagkakadakip ng Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) ng kapulisan sa 45 indibidwal sa cybercrimes mula April 11 hanggang 17 alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na paigtingin ang kampanya laban sa cybercrimes.
“We urge everyone to verify the legitimacy of travel agencies and booking platforms before making any transactions,” pahayag ni Marbil.
“To cybercriminals preying on innocent citizens, especially during this peak travel season, be warned: the PNP is actively monitoring, patrolling, and ready to act. There will be no safe space for scammers in the digital world,” dagdag niya.
Nagsagawa ang PNP-ACG ng 313 cyber patrolling activities at 13 digital forensic examinations mula April 11 hanggang 17, nagresulta sa pagkakaresto sa 45, kabilang ang 32 sa pamamagitan ng entrapment operations.
Nanawagan ang ACG sa publiko na manatiling alerto at agad iulat ang anumang kahina-hinalang online activity sa pamamagitan ng official hotlines at verified social media accounts ng ACG.
Sinabi ni Marbil na naninindigan ang PNP sa misyon nitong tiyaking natatamasa ng bawat Pilipino ang mas ligtas na cyberspace sa ilalim ng Bagong Pilipinas framework.
“I salute our CIDG teams nationwide for their relentless commitment and swift action in taking 37 fugitives off the streets in just one day.
