MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Linggo, Disyembre 29 na naka-heightened alert na ang buong bansa para masiguro ang seguridad ng publiko lalo na ang mga biyahero.
“We have mobilized our police units to maintain peace and order during New Year celebrations and ensure the safety of travelers heading home. Coordination with government agencies and local traffic management offices is key to managing the movement of people and vehicles effectively during this busy season,” saad sa pahayag ni PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil.
Handa ang PNP na magbigay ng first aid para sa firecracker-related injuries at rumesponde sa mga fire incident sa pakikipagtulungan sa local fire protection units.
“Our officers are trained and equipped to handle emergencies, from providing immediate first aid to assisting in fire response operations. We are ready to serve the public in every way possible,” ani Marbil.
Nagbabala rin ang publiko laban sa pagsasagawa ng ‘unsafe, New Year-related activities’ katulad ng pagsusunog ng gulong at pagharang sa mga kalsada.
Nagpaalala si Marbil sa publiko sa panganib na dala ng paputok at hinimok ang publiko na manood na lamang ng fireworks displays sa government-designated fireworks zones.
Sa huling ulat ay nakapagtala ang Department of Health (DOH) ng 17 bagong firecracker-related injuries, na nagdala sa kabuuang bilang na 142 kaso.
Mas mataas ang bilang ng 35% kumpara noong nakaraang taon. RNT/JGC
