MANILA, Philippines- Nanawagan ang Philippine National Police nitong Linggo sa publiko na makiisa sa security measures bilang paghahanda para sa May midterm elections, kabilang ang Commission on Elections checkpoints sa buong bansa.
Sinimulan ng police units ang paglalagay ng checkpoints nitong Linggo ng hatinggabi sa opisyal na pagsisimula ng election period at nationwide gun ban.
“These measures, including the gun ban, are critical to ensuring peace and order throughout the election period. By working together, we can achieve a secure and orderly electoral process,” pahayag ni Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, hepe ng PNP, sa isang press release.
Sinabi ng PNP na tatalima ang mga tauhan sa checkpoints sa protocols na titiyak sa mga karapatan at privacy ng mga mamamayan.
Kabilang dito ang Plain View doctrine, na pumapayag lamang sa visual searches.
“We urge everyone to be patient and understanding as these security measures are put in place. These are all for your safety, and we ask for your continued cooperation to help make this election season peaceful and secure,” giit ni Marbil. RNT/SA
