MANILA, Philippines – Irerekomenda ng Malacañang sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) ang pagrerebisa sa umiiral na polisiya pagdating sa class suspension.
Ito ay bilang tugon sa kamakailang apela ng Coordinating Council of Private Education Associations (COCOPEA) na bigyan ang private school administrators ng sapat na kakayahan na magdesisyon kung isususpinde ang klase, lilipat sa online methods, o magtatalaga ng asynchronous tasks, matapos ang maingat na pagsusuri sa sitwasyon na nakakaapekto sa kanilang stakeholders at sa academic calendar ng eskuwelahan.
“Opo, irerekomenda po ito sa NDRRMC,” ayon kay Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro.
Ayon sa COCOPEA, ang “blanket” at “automatic” suspension orders ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa lahat ng eskuwelahan sa mga piling lokalidad ay “hamper school preparations, discourage resilience in school communities, and devalue the education of students.”
“It also deprives school administrators of the proper exercise of academic judgment in matters affecting student learning, the number of school days lost, preparations for major examinations, and their overall development,” dagdag pa ng grupo.
Hinikayat din ng COCOPEA ang Pangulo na “support our call for a policy environment in education that prioritizes student safety while also promoting their quality education and consequently, their desired future.”
Samantala, nilinaw ni Castro na pagdating sa deklarasyon ng suspensyon ng trabaho sa gobyerno, ang Office of the President (OP) at Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) ang may kapangyarihan dito.
“Pero tandaan din po natin, ang suspension po sa work ay nanggagaling po sa Office of the President or OES through PCO,” ayon pa kay Castro. (Kris Jose)
