VATICAN CITY- Hinikayat ni Pope Francis ang Iran at Israel nitong Linggo na iwasan ang mga hakbang na makapagpapaigting sa “spiral of violence” na makapagpapalala ng gulo sa Middle East.
Sa kanyang mensahe sa St Peter’s Square, sinabi ni Francis na sinusundan niya ang mga ulat ukol sa drone at missile attack ng Iran sa Israel.
“I make a heartfelt appeal for a halt to any action that could fuel a spiral of violence with the risk of dragging the Middle East into an even greater conflict,” apela ng papa.
“No one should threaten the existence of others. All nations should stand, instead, for peace, and help Israelis and Palestinians to live in two states, side by side, in safety,” dagdag niya.
Ipinanawagan ni Pope Francis ang ceasefire sa Gaza at negosasyon upang maihatid ang humanitarian aid sa mga tao at makatulong sa pagpapalaya ng Israeli hostages na hawak ng Hamas.
“Enough war, enough attacks, enough violence. Yes to dialogue, yes to peace,” aniya. RNT/SA
