MANILA, Philippines – Maliit ang posibilidad ng malawakang pag-ulan sa buong bansa ngayong weekend dahil sa umiiral na easterlies o mainit na hanging nagmumula sa Karagatang Pasipiko, ayon sa Pagasa.
Sinabi ni weather specialist John Manalo na easterlies at mga localized thunderstorm lamang ang nakaaapekto sa bansa sa ngayon.
“The only weather systems affecting the country are the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. This means, from Metro Manila up to the whole country, there is a low chance of rains that may cause widespread flooding,” ani Manalo.
“What is possible only are localized thunderstorms,” dagdag niya.
Ipinaliwanag din ni Manalo na magpapatuloy ang mainit na panahon hanggang sa unang bahagi ng ikatlong linggo ng Hunyo kahit na idineklara na ng Pagasa ang pagsisimula ng tag-ulan dahil sa tinatawag na monsoon break.
“From Sunday up to Tuesday we will continue to have these weather conditions. So maybe some are wondering why after Pagasa issued a declaration saying that it is the start of the rainfall season or the southwest monsoon season, why are there no rains? This usually happens,” aniya.
“First, we declared the monsoon season because we met the criteria needed to declare that it is the rainy season already. And after we declared this, it just so happened that there are other weather systems that have a greater effect in the country. When this happens, the influence of the southwest monsoon is affected and we will not experience rain showers,” dagdag pa niya.
Inaasahan ang mainit na panahon sa maraming lugar sa bansa, kung saan maaaring umabot sa 34°C sa Metro Manila, 36°C sa Tuguegarao, at 33°C sa Davao City.
Samantala, wala ring nakataas na gale warning dahil bahagya hanggang katamtaman lamang ang kondisyon ng karagatan, na may taas ng alon na 0.6 hanggang 1.5 metro. RNT/MND
