MANILA, Philippines- Nilinaw ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang ilang puntos sa Executive Order (EO) No. 39 na nagtatakda ng price ceiling para sa bigas.
Sa Laging Handa public briefing nitong Biyernes, sinabi ni DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual na ang P41 at P45 price ceilings ay para lamang sa regular at well-milled rice.
“I just want to clarify that the price cap is not for all (variants of) rice… There are varieties that are not covered by the Price Act,” ani Pascual.
Nilinaw din iya na hindi nagpapataw ang EO 39 ng price freeze subalit ipinag-uutos ang pinakamataas na presyo na maaaring ibenta ng retailers ang regular at well-milled rice sa consumers.
Sa ilalim ng bagong direktiba, pangungunahan ng DTI at ng departments of agriculture, interior and local government, at justice ang price monitoring.
“The price ceiling is aimed at protecting Filipino consumers from unfair and exploitative pricing practices. Both the DTI and the broader Philippine government are focused on safeguarding lower-income families and vulnerable communities, who are most affected when prices of essential goods surge unexpectedly,” hiwalay na pahayag ni Pascual.
