MANILA, Philippines – Dapat tiyakin ng Palasyo na makakabili ng sapat na bigas ang mamamayan matapos ipag-utos ang price ceiling sa butil, ayon kay Senador Grace Poe.
Kasabay nito, hiniling din ni Poe kay President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na lumikha ng pangmatagalang solusyon sa probelma ng lumolobo at tumataas na presyo ng bigas sa bansa.
“The imposition of the price ceiling should assure our people that rice remains accessible,” aniya.
“In the long run, solutions must be in place to keep the supply and prices steady, and bring growth to the agriculture sector, especially to our farmers,” ayon sa mambabatas.
Sa ipinalabas na Executive Order No. 39, itinakda sa P41 kada kilo ng regular milled rice at P45 kada kilo sa well-milled rice. Kasalukuyang kumakatawan ang pangulo bilang kalihim ng Department of Agriculture (DA).
“Authorities must address the unhampered smuggling and hoarding that continue to undermine efforts to improve farmers’ productivity, modernize our agriculture and reduce the retail price of the staple,” ayon kay Poe.
Sinabi pa ni Poe na dapat matiyak din na mabibigyan ng benepisyo ng Rice Tariffication Law sa maliliit na magsasaka upang kayanin nilang makipagkumpetensiya.
