MANILA, Philippines- Lumikha si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ng special committee upang palakasin ang proteksyon at pagsusulong ng human rights sa bansa.
Batay sa Administrative Order No. 22, nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin noong May 8, nilikha ang Special Committee on Human Rights Coordination na may tungkuling panatilihin ang mga inisyatiba at mga naisakatuparan ng United Nations for the Joint Programme (UNJP) on Human Rights sa law enforcement, criminal justice, at policy-making.
Pamumunuan ni Bersamin ang komite, katuwang si Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla. Kabilang pa sa ibang miyembro ng body ang mga pinuno ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“[I]t is imperative to sustain and enhance the accomplishments under the UNJP, which is set to expire on 31 July 2024, through institutionalization of a robust multi-stakeholder process for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Philippines,” saad sa AO. RNT/SA
