Protest fashion sa SONA tinuloy ng Makabayan Bloc

MANILA, Philippines – Sa kabila ng banta na ipagbabawal ang protest fashion sa araw ng State of the Nation Address(SONA) ni Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr., tinuloy ng Makabayan Bloc ang kanilang pagsusuot ng kasuotan na may paparating na mensahe para sa administrasyon.

Si Gabriela Partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas ay nagsuot ng kulay itim na gown na may art work na may mensahe na i-demilitarize ang West Philippine Sea.

Ang itim na gown ni Brosas ay likha ni Francis Yepez Yu habang ang painting na may mensahe ay gawa ng artist-activist na si Michael Joselo.

“The painting showed the Philippine flag, the sea filled with boats on the blue side of the flag, and a woman with her fist up on the red side. Hindi po ‘to fashion statement, ito ay clear message to demilitarize the West Philippine Sea. Yan po ang ating mensahe: soberanya para sa ating mga kababaihan at sambayanan,” paliwanag ni Brosas.

Samantala ang barong na suot ni Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel ay may hand-painted protest na may mensahe na ‘genuine change’.

“This symbolizes the hope of the new generation to graduate from the social ills dragging the country to further crisis and even outright war. This connects to the backside of the Barong where a fist symbolizing the unity of the youth to break free and fight back against the primordial danger of war and aggression imposed by U.S. provocations (bald eagle) against its rival China (dragon) amid the disunity of warring factions of the ruling dynasties in the country,” paliwanag ni Manuel.
