MANILA, Philippines- Nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Estados Unidos at Tsina na pangasiwaan ang sigalot para mapanatili ang kapayapaan at katatagan sa rehiyon.
Inihayag ito ng Pangulo sa kanyang keynote address sa 2024 IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s premier defense summit.
Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo, sinabi niyang bagama’t may mahalagang papel ang Estados Unidos at Tsina sa rehiyon, dapat ding tugunan ng mga ito ang kanilang gusot sa isa’t isa gamit ang responsableng pamamaraan.
”China’s determining influence over the security situation and the economic evolution of this region is permanent. At the same time, the stabilizing presence of America is crucial to regional peace. It’s never a choice. Both countries are important,” ayon sa Pangulo.
”The continued stability of this region requires China and the United States to manage that rivalry in a responsible manner,” dagdag na wika nito.
”The interests and responsibilities of all states in the community of nations must always be acknowledged. All our voices must be equally heard,” ang tinuran ng Pangulo.
“The strategic competition between the US and China has penetrated the evolving regional landscape,” patuloy ng Pangulo sabay sabing ang nasabing tunggalian ang naging hadlang sa ‘strategic choices’ ng regional states.
”This contest is exacerbating flashpoints and has created new security dilemmas,” aniya pa rin.
Winika pa ng Pangulo, ”China and the United States have a unique responsibility to undertake concrete measures to reverse the recent increase in nuclear stockpiles and to alleviate the risks of nuclear conflict.”
Pagbibigay-diin naman sa foreign independent policy ng Pilipinas, nito lamang Enero ng taong kasalukuyan, sinabi ng Pangulo na ang Estados Unidos at Tsina ang mga pangunahing tauhan para tiyakin ang kapayapaan at seguridad sa Asia-Pacific Region.
Sinabi ng Chief Executive na hindi kakampi o kakatig ang Pilipinas sa anumang bansa at itataas ang tensyon sa mga bansa.
Nito lamang Marso, nilinaw ni Pangulong Marcos na walang kinalaman ang Estados Unidos sa naging desisyon nito pagdating sa usapin ng West Philippine Sea, at sinabi na ang bansa ay ”acts for its own interest.”
Samantala binigyang-diin naman ni Pangulong Marcos na malayo na ang narating ng Pilipinas sa kabila ng napakahirap subalit matatag na paglalakbay ”towards the fulfillment of our people’s aspirations.”
Nananatili aniyang “on track” ang bansa para makamit ang nilalayon nitong “‘high-income economy” at masaganang bansa sa 2040.
”Our strong potentials come with an inevitable rise in our global standing. Just as we have done in the past, we will embrace our role in this region and around the world with a sense of purpose,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
”We are determined to be a force for good, a force for peace, a champion of regional and global unity, and a staunch defender of the rules-based international order,” giit pa niya. Kris Jose
