Revised K-10 curriculum inilunsad ng DepEd

MANILA, Philippines – Opisyal nang inilunsad ng Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Huwebes, Agosto 10, ang revised kindergarten to Grade 10 (K-10) curriculum sa basic education.

Sa event na idinaos sa Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City, sinabi ni DepEd Bureau of Curriculum Development director Jocelyn Andaya na ang phased implementation ng MATATAG K-10 curriculum ay sisimulan sa School Year (SY) 2024-2025 hanggang SY 2027-2028.

Sa press conference sinabi ni DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Michael Poa na inalis na ang Mother Tongue subject sa revised K-10 curriculum, ngunit hindi bilang medium of instruction.

Samantala, sinabi ni Andaya na ang bagong curriculum ay magbibigay balanse sa cognitive demands, mas malinaw na artikulasyon ng 21st Century skills, may mas pinalakas na values education at peace education, at hahabol sa international standards.

Kasabay ng kanyang speech, kinilala naman ni
Vice President at Education Secretary Sara Duterte ang pagpupursige ni DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching Gina Gonong sa pagbuo ng K-10 curriculum at umaming sa kanya lamang siya umaasa sa kaalamang ito dahil wala siyang background sa education sector.

“I do not come from the education sector, I don’t have an education background so I cannot review what they’re doing and I rely on their expertise and all the stakeholders who did the review,” ani Duterte.

“Ang magawa ko lang is I do very well, admittedly, is magpukpok talaga ng tao to do what they’re supposed to do,” dagdag pa niya.

Iginiit naman ni Duterte na isa lamang siya sa iba pang ASEAN Education ministers na walang ganoong credential.
