MANILA, Philippines – Walang bearing sa nagpapatuloy na imbestigasyon ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema kaugnay sa petition for a writ of habeas corpus na nananawagan ng pagpapalaya kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“Walang bearing kung ano man ang sabihin ng Supreme Court unfortunately. Because the custody of the person has already been transmitted to the ICC. Kasi ang habeas corpus, produce the body, it’s directed to, supposedly, Philippine officials. Ang bilis ng excuse, ‘Eh wala na po sa amin,’ kaya tapos ang kaso,” sinabi ni Atty. Kristina Conti.
“And second. Technical lang ito. It’s just procedural,” dagdag pa ni Conti, ICC assistant to counsel.
Inatasan ng Supreme Court (SC) en banc ang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan na sumagot sa petition for a writ of habeas corpus na naglalayong mapalaya si Duterte mula sa ICC detention.
Ang notice ay inisyu nitong Biyernes kung saan ipinag-utos ng SC sa mga respondent na maghain ng memorandum sa petisyon sa loob ng 30 araw.
Pinangalanan sa mga respondent sa kaso ay sina dating Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin; Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla; Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla; ex-PNP chief Francisco Marbil, ex-PNP-CIDG Director Nicolas Torre III; ex-Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra; Former Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, ex-Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo; Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.; at Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Executive Director Lt. Gen. Antonio Alcantara; at Captains Johnny Gulla at Elmo Segovia.
Noong Marso, humiling sina Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, at Davao City Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte ng writ of habeas corpus para mapalaya ang dating pangulo mula sa detention. RNT/JGC
