MANILA, Philippines — Inatasan ng Korte Suprema ang Kamara de Representantes at Senado na magsumite ng mga dokumentong magpapaliwanag sa mga pagbabagong isinagawa ng bicameral conference committee sa 2024 national budget.
Sa pagdinig kaugnay ng mga petisyon laban sa unprogrammed appropriations sa mga pambansang budget para sa 2024, 2025, at 2026, sinabi ni Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen na magkatugma ang General Appropriations Bill at ang bersyon ng Senado ng 2024 budget sa National Expenditure Program.
Gayunman, ayon kay Leonen, nagdagdag ang bicameral conference committee ng tinatayang P400 bilyon hanggang P500 bilyon sa pondo.
“In addition to the documents requested by Justice Ben, kindly request from the House and the Senate, your clients, whether there are supporting documents, once and for all,” ani Leonen.
Inatasan din niya ang Kongreso na magsumite ng mga kaukulang dokumento o certification na magpapaliwanag kung paano nabuo ang mga inilaan na pondo.
“Because what we see, collectively, was that there was centavos at the end. So we want to know how they are computed and why there are no documentation,” dagdag niya.
Pinayagan din ng mahistrado ang mga petitioner na magsumite ng kanilang komento at manifestations kaugnay ng mga dokumentong ihahain ng Kongreso.
Samantala, sinabi ni Solicitor General Darlene Berberabe na susunod ang pamahalaan sa kautusan ng Korte Suprema.
Ang kaso ay nag-ugat sa pinagsamang petisyon na inihain nina dating Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, Camarines Sur Representative Gabriel Bordado Jr., Basilan Representative Mujiv Hataman, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Congressman Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, Filipinos for Peace, Justice, and Progress Movement Inc., Caloocan 2nd District Representative Edgar Erice, at Mamamayang Liberal Representative Leila De Lima.
