MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan si House Deputy Minority leader at ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro nitong Lunes, Hunyo 17 sa Kongreso na imbestigahan ang rebelasyong ang Pentagon ay nagpapatakbo umano ng secret anti-vaccination campaign sa kasagsagan ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is imperative that we ascertain the extent of the damage caused by this secret campaign and hold those responsible accountable. The Philippines was one of the areas targeted by this operation, and therefore, it is our duty to safeguard our nation’s sovereignty and protect our people’s health,” pahayag ni Castro.
Lubhang nakababahala umano ang rebelasyong ito ng Reuters at nangangailangan ng agarang imbestigasyon.
“Through the use of fake social media accounts impersonating Filipinos, the campaign spread anti-vaccine messages, specifically targeting China’s Sinovac vaccine,” anang mambabatas.
Aniya, ang lawak ng kampanyang ito ay nakababahala dahil tinukoy ng Reuters ang mahigit 300 fake accounts sa Twitter na nilikha noong 2020.
Ayon pa kay Castro, hindi pwedeng balewalain ang epekto ng operasyong ito sa public health.
Kasunod nito, iginiit ni Castro ang kahalagahan ng transparency, katotohanan at ethical conduct, lalo na sa panahon ng global health crisis. RNT/JGC
