MANILA, Philippines – Maaaring tumagal ng apat hanggang walong linggo ang kasalukuyang tensyon sa Gitnang Silangan, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, sinabi ni DFA Assistant Secretary Germina Aguilar-Usudan na batay ang pagtataya sa mga ulat mula sa mga diplomatic posts ng Pilipinas sa rehiyon. Ito ay tugon sa tanong ni Senator Francis Kiko Pangilinan kung gaano katagal maaaring tumagal ang alitan sa pagitan ng Estados Unidos at Israel.
“Based on the reports from the various posts, we were informed that the US is trying to send more rockets to Iran, and then the (US) President (Donald Trump) is also trying to have a say on who will be the next leader of Iran. So, the projection from the reports that we received, it will take four weeks to eight weeks,” ani Aguilar-Usudan.
“It’s not like the previous Israel-Iran war, which only took 12 days… We received reports that Iran would like to negotiate but it was discounted by the Iranian government and Trump has said yesterday that he’s more ready for war this time,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Aguilar-Usudan, posibleng humaba pa ang labanan at maging isang “protracted war,” kaya nagsasagawa rin ang pamahalaan ng hindi pangkaraniwang tulong para sa overseas Filipino workers.
Samantala, sinabi ni Jeffrey Hechanova, Assistant Secretary ng Department of National Defense, na mahirap magbigay ng tiyak na timeline dahil mabilis magbago ang sitwasyon sa lugar.
“Due to the fluidity of the situation, as what we’ve discussed a while ago, mahirap po talagang magbigay ng (it’s difficult to give a) legitimate timeline because may (there is) action and counter-action po kasi ‘yung bawat (between the) countries. So the situation can change very fast,” aniya.
Gayunman, sinabi ni Hechanova na naghahanda na ang Department of National Defense ng mga response protocol kaugnay ng sitwasyon.
Nauna nang tiniyak ng mga opisyal ng seguridad ng Pilipinas na walang direktang banta sa seguridad ng bansa ang tensyon sa Gitnang Silangan.
Nanawagan din si Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. sa lahat ng panig na magpakita ng pagpipigil at umaasa sa agarang ceasefire upang matigil ang labanan. RNT
