MANILA, Philippines – Inudyukan ng mga mambabatas ang pamahalaan na gumawa ng hakbang upang ipakita sa China ang pagkadismaya kasunod ng naganap na water cannon attack sa barko ng Philippine Coast Guard sa Ayungin Shoal sa West Philippine Sea.
Muling inungkat ni Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ang mungkahing iparamdam sa China ang pagkadismaya sa panibagong “harassment and bullying tactic” na ginawa ng China Coast Guard sa barko ng Philippine Coast Guard at Philippine Navy.
“I ask the President to downgrade our embassy in Beijing to show our deep indignation, anger and protest over the water cannon blast by the Chinese Coast Guard on our personnel. The President should also order our unusually quiet and inactive ambassador there to return to Manila and to replace him with a lower-level diplomatic officer,” ani Rodriguez.
Giit pa ng mambabatas na hindi dapat balewalain ng gobyerno ang pinakahuling pambu-bully na ito ng CCG sa pagsasabing “we cannot allow these harassment and bullying tactics and encroachment on our maritime territory to continue. We have to take more drastic actions, instead of filing the usual diplomatic protest note.”
Samantala iminungkahi naman ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte na dapat ng madaliin ng administrasyong Marcos ang planong magkakasamang pagpapatrolya sa West Philippine Sea kasama ang mga kaalyado ng Pilipinas gaya ng kasunod ng kasunod ng diumano’y “incursive maneuvers” sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas ng Chinese Coast Guard (CCG).
“Our NSC (National Security Council) expects the proposed maritime patrols with the US to begin happening before the year is over,” Villafuerte said. “Under the circumstances, it is my hope that such joint sails can start much sooner and possibly include other allied nation that have similarly condemned China’s illegal maneuvers and strive for peace and stability in the crucial international waterway.”
Ang pahayag ni Villafuerte ay kasunod ng magkakahiwalay na pagkondena ng US, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom (UK), Germany at ng European Union (EU) sa naging pahayag ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na “dangerous and illegal use of water cannons” ng CCG sa barko ng PCG na nagpapatrolya sa Ayungin Shoal.
Ani Villafuerte, ang nasabing mga “indigenous” boats ay maghahatid ng pagkain, gasolina, tubig sa Philippine Marines troops na naka-himpil sa BRP Sierra Madre, na siyang nagsisilbing military outpost sa Ayungin Shoal.
Sinabi pa ng kongresista na posibleng mauwi sa wala ang negosasyon at usapan sa pagitan nina President Marcos at President Xi Jinping nang dumalaw ang pangulo sa Beijing noong Enero dahil nasundan pa ng mga “aggressive incursions” ng Chinese vessels sa teritoryong sakop ng EEZ. Meliza Maluntag
