MANILA, Philippines – Malugod na tinanggap ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III ang pagkakahalal kay Isabela Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III bilang bagong Speaker ng Kamara, na tinawag niyang isang “very good choice.”
Umaasa siyang magkakaroon ng “excellent” na relasyon ang Senado at Kamara, lalo na sa pag-apruba ng 2026 national budget.
“I’m sure he’s capable and it’ll be good for the House,” ani Sotto sa isang ambush interview. “I expect a very, very good, in fact, excellent relationship between the House and the Senate,” dagdag pa niya.
Tiniyak ni Sotto na magiging “cleaner” ang budget sa ilalim ng bagong pamunuan dahil magkakaroon ng full live streaming sa deliberasyon at bicameral sessions.
“Ay sigurado (That’s for sure). We’ll make sure this time because there will be live streaming, not only in the deliberations, not only in the hearings, but also on the floor and the bicameral conference committee and whatever form of bicameral conference will be done. I will make sure that Speaker Bojie and I, we’ll make sure that there is live streaming so that the people will know where the money goes,” giit pa niya.
Pinuri rin ni dating Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang pamumuno ni Dy ngunit binalaan ang Kongreso laban sa “selective amnesia” kaugnay ng nakaraang mga budget at anomalya.
Samantala, sinabi ni Senadora Imee Marcos na “sobrang bait” ni Dy at maaaring maging mahirap ang kanyang sitwasyon bilang Speaker: “Arguably the worst job in the world.”
Nagpatutsada naman si Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa ang pagbibitiw ni dating Speaker Martin Romualdez at tinanong kung ito ba ay “sign of guilt” sa gitna ng mga alegasyon ng korapsyon sa flood-control projects.
Dati nang sinabi ng mag-asawang kontratista na sina Curlee at Sarah Discaya na madalas banggitin ang pangalan ni Romualdez sa mga komisyon, bagaman kalaunan ay nilinaw na hindi sila nagkaroon ng direktang transaksyon.
Mariin namang itinanggi ni Romualdez ang alegasyon at iginiit na tungkulin ng liderato na “confront the trials of the present” at ibalik ang tiwala ng publiko. RNT
