MANILA, Philippines- Ini-adopt ng Senado nitong Miyerkules ang resolusyon na nagbibigay ng kapangyarihan sa subcommittees “to cite and punish witnesses in contempt.”
Inihain ni Senator JV Ejercito, nilalayon ng Senate Resolution 1264 na amyendahan ang Section 20 ng Rules of Procedure Governing Inquiries in Aid of Legislation.
Nakasaad sa Section 20 na “the Chairman of a Committee may create subcommittees as may be deemed necessary for the purpose of performing any and all acts which the Committee as a whole is authorized to do and perform [except the power to punish for contempt under Section 18 hereof].”
Sa pagbura sa pangungusap sa bracket, magkakaroon ng kapangyarihan ang committee chair at ang subcommittees na mag-contempt at magparusa ng witnesses na na-cite in contempt. RNT/SA
