KUALA LUMPUR- Hiniling ni Pangulong Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nitong Martes ang suporta ng mayayamang Arab nations sa inaasam nitong pwesto sa United Nations Security Council.
”Our success in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and mostly Mindanao in the southern Philippines is the centerpiece of our country’s experience in building peace and forging new paths of cooperation that can enrich the work of the United Nations Security Council,” pahayag ni Marcos sa 2nd ASEAN – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit.
”We take this opportunity to reaffirm the Philippines’ candidature to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2027-2008. We hope to count on your valuable support as we seek to bring our region’s perspective to the United Nations Security Council,” dagdag niya.
Batay sa UN website, nagtatag ang United Nations Charter ng anim na “main organs” ng UN, kabilang ang Security Council.
Ibinibigay nito ang responsibilidad sa pagpapanatili ng international peace at security sa Security Council, na maaaring magpulong sakaling may matukoy na banta sa kapayapaan.
Ang Pilipinas ay non-permanent member ng UN Security Council sa mga sumusunod na taon: 1957, 1963, 1980 hanggang 1981, at 2004 hanggang 2005. RNT/SA
