MANILA, Philippines – Mahigpit na ipinagbabawal na ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) ang paggamit ng anumang social media platforms habang nasa loob ng tangapan nito at sa lahat ng mga bilangguan na nasa pangangasiwa nito.
Sa isang statement, inihayag ng BuCor na hindi na maaaring gamitin ng lahat ng opisyal at kawani ng BuCor ang kanilang oras sa paggamit ng social media platforms gaya ng Tiktok, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram at iba pa.
“The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) strictly prohibits the usage of any social media platforms while inside and on-duty at the NHQ-BuCor Offices, New Bilibid Prison Camps, and all Operating Prisons and Penal Farms. This prohibition applies without exception to all Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Civilian Personnel, and other BuCor Employees.”
Samantala, ipinagbawal na rin ng BuCor ang paggamit ng cellphones sa loob ng prison facilities sa buong bansa.
Sakop ng memorandum ni BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. ang lahat ng commissioned officers, non-commissioned officers, civilian personnel, mga bisita at sinuman na papasok sa BuCor headquarters at mga operating prisons and penal farms (OPPFs).
Batid ni Catapang na tiyak na maraming magrereklamo na personnel sa bagong polisiya ngunit kailangan aniya ito ipatupad bilang isa sa paraan upang matigil ang illegal drug trade sa bilibid.
“Any cellular phone or related devices discovered shall be immediately confiscated and reported to the appropriate authorities for proper documentation and disposition while personnel found to be complicit in the unauthorized entry or use of cellular phones will be subjected to administrative and criminal sanctions,” babala ni Catapang.
Kapalit ng mga cellphones, iniutos ni Catapang ang pagbili ng dagdag na two-way radios bilang alternatibong uri ng komunikasyon.
“We need to invest in two-way radios as a strategic move aimed to eliminate the reliance on smuggled cellphones, which have become a significant issue in correction facilities, often leading to illegal activities both inside and outside the walls.” TERESA TAVARES
