MANILA, Philippines- Nagliyab ang tirikan ng kandila sa Immaculate Conception Cathedral sa Malinao, Pasig City, nitong Miyerkules ng gabi.
“The area was actually the adoration room where people can go to pray in solitude. Outside the adoration room, we have a devotional candle and that’s where people light also candles. We prolong the lighting candle until it is already consumed, I think there was the spread of the wax,” pahayag ni Rev. Fr. Arnold Eramiz, properties administrator ng Diocese of Pasig.
“But the structure itself is the separate building from the main church of the cathedral. It is within the premise of the cathedral,” patuloy niya.
Base sa simbahan, maaaring nag-umpisa ang sunog ng alas-11 ng gabi noong Miyerkules, dahil sa naiwang may sinding mga kandila.
Agad nakaresponde ang Pasig Fire Station dahil sa pagbibigay-alam sa social media hinggil sa insidente, kaya mabilis naapula ang apoy.
“May mga instances na before pero ngayon na lang ulit naulit pero at least mabilis ‘yong responde through social media. ‘Yong ating mga [volunteers] sa barangay, at sa fire protection,” ayon naman kay Rev. Fr. Daniel Estacio, Resident Priest ng Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
