MANILA, Philippines – Pinalakas ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy ang training programs nito, pinalawak ang pasilidad at access para sa upskilling ng social welfare professionals at partner institutions sa buong bansa.
Sa panayam, sinabi ni DSWD Academy director Justin Cesar Batocabe na matagal na ang ganitong function sa departamento ngunit mas pinaigting pa ang mandato nito sa ilalim ni Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
“Pinalaki po natin, gumawa po tayo ng mga pasilidad at ni-renovate din po natin ang DSWD Academy facility and sinigurado po natin mas maparami ang ating mapasa sa technical assistance and other trainings,” pahayag ni Batocabe.
Ang DSWD Academy ay nag-oopeate sa department-managed learning facility sa Taguig City, na nag-aalok ng basic at specialized courses na naka-disenyo para sa licensed social workers, local social welfare and development offices, municipal social welfare and development offices, community development workers, paraprofessionals, at social work auxiliaries.
Nagsisilbing refresher modules ang mga training program para sa registered social workers dahil kabilang sa curriculum ang Introduction to Social Welfare and Development, Pre-Marriage Counseling, Leadership Training for Social Workers, at House Parenting para sa staff sa residential care facilities.
Tinutugunan din ng DSWD Academy ang specialized competency needs, partikular sa disaster response at child protection.
Kabilang sa training programs ang camp coordination at camp management, training para sa social workers na humahawak sa Children in Conflict with the Law, at modules para sa court-based social workers.
In-house ang training programs at karaniwang nanggagaling sa ibang rehiyon ang mga lumalahok dito.
Tumutuloy ang mga ito sa hostel ng akademya para masiguro ang tutok na pag-aaral at peer support.
Habang target ng DSWD Academy ang local government units at government social welfare institutions, sinabi ni Batocabe na ang mga slot ay binubuksan para sa kwalipikadong indibidwal kapag hindi makadalo ang mga target participant.
“These openings are publicly announced through the official DSWD Academy Facebook page and may be availed of through registration. To be qualified, applicants must have an educational or professional background aligned with social work or community development,” ani Batocabe. RNT/JGC
