MANILA, Philippines – Gumuho ang Piggatan Bridge sa Alcala, Cagayan nitong Lunes ng hapon, Oktubre 6 matapos dumaan ang mga overloaded na trak dito, ayon sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Preliminary findings reveal that three (3) loaded trucks, each with an estimated weight of 50 tons, were on the bridge at the time, far exceeding its 18-ton capacity, which seems to have caused the structure to collapse,” saad sa pahayag ng DPWH.
“The Department shall provide a recommendation based on the results of the assessment,” dagdag ng ahensya.
Nauna nang iniulat ng Cagayan Public Information Office na bumigay ang tulay kasama ang ilang 10-wheeler trucks.
Kasalukuyang hindi madaanan ang imprastruktura dahil sa insidente, dahilan para maistranded ang ilang motorista.
Kasunod ng insidente, inabisuhan ng DPWH ang publiko na dumaan na lamang sa Jct. Gattaran – Cumao – Capissayan – Sta. Margarita Bolos Point Road patungong Baybayog – Baggao – Sta. Margarita Road (at vice versa).
