MANILA, Philippines – Nais ni Senador Raffy Tulfo na idiskwalipika na at pagbawalan ng Commission on Higher Education (Ched) ang Bestlink College of the Philippines sa pagsasagawa ng off-campus activities dahil sa hindi maayos na paghawak ng naturang paaralan sa mga event.
Sa pagsasalita sa pagdinig sa Senado nitong Lunes, Hunyo 9, sinabi ni Tulfo na nagagastusan ang mga estudyante sa mga off-campus activities na ito.
“I want Bestlink’s perpetual disqualification from conducting off-campus activities like excursion. It’s been two incidents already – the first one, many died, and how many fell unconscious. What’s going to happen next? Are we going to allow them to let it happen again just like that?” sinabi ni Tulfo.
Ang tinutukoy ng senador ay ang hindi awtorisadong off-campus activity sa Bataan noong Enero kung saan ang mga estudyante ay nakaranas ng “severe logistical problems and safety concerns, many of whom were stranded for hours with no transportation to go back to Manila.”
Bukod dito, noong 2017 naman ay 13 estudyante at bus driver ay nasawi matapos na bumangga sa poste ng kuryente ang tourist bus sakay ang 50 estudyante na patungo sana sa research field trip sa resort sa Tanay, Rizal.
Naniniwala si Tulfo na ang mga insidenteng ito ay dapat na nakakaalarma na para sa CHED, dahilan para ihiling ng senador ang ban sa Bestlink sa pagsasagawa ng off-campus activities lalo na ang mga excursion.
“Ban them. They have no right. There are already deaths, we should’ve done this before. What’s stopping us if we’re cancelling a bus franchise if a passenger dies?,” aniya.
Ang pahayag na ito ni Tulfo ay para kay Ched executive director Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro, na sinabing nag-isyu na sila ng resolusyon sa Bestlink.
“This is the Commission’s resolution. Aside from downgrading their authority, we also placed a penalty of suspension to conduct local off-campus activities both curricular and non-curricular effective immediately upon receipt of the notice,” ani Benitez-Jaro.
Dahil dito ay tinanong naman ni Tulfo kung gaano katagal ang magiging suspensyon ng off-campus actvities.
