MANILA, Philippines- Itinurn-over ng Bicol police sa Philippine Navy ang isang underwater navigation and communication system na natagpuan nitong Lunes ng mga lokal na mangingisda sa San Pascual, Masbate.
Sa panayam nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Police Regional Office V chief Police Brigadier General Andre Dizon na ang navigation and communication system ay hugis cylinder at mayroong steel antenna.
”Base doon sa marking na nakita, ang lumalabas nga po ay ito ay Chinese underwater navigation and communication system po,” pahayag ni Dizon.
Aniya, itinurn-over nila ito sa Philippine Navy noong December 31, 2024.
Kinumpirma ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang turnover ng remotely operated submersible drone mula sa Philippine National Police (PNP) patungo sa Philippine Navy.
“The Navy is currently conducting further investigation to determine its origin and purpose,” dagdag nito.
“We commend their vigilance and continued support in reporting suspicious activities and encourage ongoing cooperation to ensure the effective monitoring of our territorial waters,” giit ng AFP.
Anito pa, ang military organization ay “committed” sa pagtitiyak ng kaligtasan at seguridad ng maritime domain ng bansa, “with all necessary resources mobilized to address similar and other situations with the utmost diligence.” RNT/SA
